Coonoor is a town in the Nilgiris district in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is known for its production of Nilgiri tea. Coonoor is connected by a metre gauge railway line in the world famous Nilgiri Mountain Railway between Mettupalayam and Ooty. The main attraction within the town is Sim's Park, a small well maintained botanical garden that has several varieties of plants. It is about 19 km on road to the south of Ooty and is accessible by both train and road. It also hosts an annual “Fruit Show” in summer.
There are trekking trails leading out from the town. One of the popular trekking trails leads Tourists to Lamb’s Rock that is 9 km from Coonoor. Lamb’s Rock overlooks the Coimbatore plains, providing a spectacular view of the tea and coffee plantations. A little ahead of Lamb’s Rock is located the Lady Canning’s Seat that offers a panoramic view of the Nilgiris. Tourists can trek from Lady Canning’s Seat to Dolphin’s Nose, which is located 12 km from Coonoor. Nearby is Law’s Falls, which is located 5 km from Coonoor. It is possible to trek from the falls to Droog that is located at a distance of 13 km from Coonoor. Droog is also known as Pakkasuran Kottai. The ruins of a 16th-century fort can be seen in Droog. The fort is located at a height of 750 m.

Ooty Botanical Garden
Botanical Garden is the most famous tourist destination in Ooty. In 1847, Marquis of Tweedale laid the foundation of this garden, which is spread at an area of 22 hectares. This garden is located at a height of 2400 metres above the sea level and has a collection of rare coloured lilies, flowering trees and shrubs.
There are many rare species of trees, one of which is 20 million year old fossil tree. It has earned the sobriquet monkey’s puzzle tree because monkeys cannot climb this tree. Furthermore, there is an Italian style garden which has a huge variety of flowers, bushes and plants. The garden, which also has a clear pool and a fern house, is popular among students specialising in botany.
The Horticulture Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu looks after the maintenance of this garden. This garden features variegated range of roses and imported shrubs. Todas or the tribes of Nilgiri, which is known for its unique culture and traditional values, inhabit the eastern hill of this garden.
Botanical Garden is famous for its ‘Summer Festivals’, which is held every year in the month of May. In the third weekend of May, a flower show and exhibition on plants is organised in this garden.
The present Botanical Gardens are divided into 6 sections namely Lower Garden, New Garden, Italian Garden, Conservatory, Fountain Terrace and Nurseries |

Ooty Tea Factory
Tea Factory is well-known for its tea plantation & museum.
Tea factories are well equipped and produce tea of different qualities and focus on a large international market. The whole process of manufacturing the tea is well optimized and is highly grounded up with well planned process so as to produce highly edible and good quality tea to be sold in the market place.

Coonoor Lambs Rock
Lamb's Rock, one of the main tourist attractions in the area, is 8 km from Coonoor. The cliff top provides a bird-view of the hill station of Coonoor and plains of Coimbatore. It is among favoured tourist spots, which can be approached on the way to Dolphin's Nose or the Seat.
The sight featuring giant rock is named after Captain Lamb, who made earnest attempts to create a gateway to the place in the Burliar village. Beneath the rock, lies a vast forest reserve. On the right, there is a Hullical ravine featuring Coonoor river. |

Sims Park Coonoor
Sim's Park is an unusual park-cum-botanical garden, which was laid more than a hundred years ago on the natural hill ranges. The garden features ethnic trees along with shrubs and creepers which co-habit with various other trees brought from thought the world.
The park is named after Mr. J.D. Sim, former Secretary to Government, and Major Murray, a pioneer whose efforts helped to set up garden in 1874. The site is positioned in the north side of Coonoor railway station, at an altitude of 1,770 m above sea level. Sprawling over an area of 12 hectares, the garden occupies the inclined area and base of a ravine.
Highlights of the garden are Queensland Karry Pine, Rudraksha (the bead tree) and Handsome Ornamental tree. Sim’s park along with Botanical Garden has the largest repository of temperate plants in India. Due to this fact, Sim's Park is a destination of significance for botanists.
